Season of Caring
August - October
| What | Season of Caring (formerly Week of Caring) is a major community-wide volunteer service event that mobilizes more than 3,100 volunteers to help United Way agencies, other nonprofits, Charlotte-Mecklenburg public schools and Mecklenburg County Parks. Volunteers from all walks of life participate by refurbishing, beautifying, painting and interacting with different agencies and their clients.

| Who | Most Season of Caring groups consist of teams of employees from businesses, schools, churches and civic organizations. Teams generally consist of 10 or more people. Companies are encouraged to provide release time for their employees for full day or half-day shifts.

Become a United Way volunteer
Feel like you have something unique to offer? Help United Way of Central Carolinas make key decisions by serving on a committee. As a Community Investment Council volunteer, you’ll help us determine the best way to allocate funds for the greatest impact in our region. Additionally, each United Way department benefits from volunteers who offer their expertise and guidance in operational decisions by serving on various committees. Community Investment Council
United Way of Central Carolinas’ Citizen Review Councils focus on 10 different areas of service. The Councils combine the expertise of professionals in the health and human services field with the independent outlook of individual community volunteers.
These volunteers gain greater insight into issues facing people within our community while providing fresh perspectives for service providers to consider. Together, they respond to community needs with innovation, collaboration and accountability.
Recruiting for Community Investment Council Volunteers in the following areas is currently under way:
Mooresville-Lake Norman area
Union County.
The Mooresville-Lake Norman United Way needs volunteers for all four of its councils:
- Crisis and Disaster Services Council
- Family and Youth Services Council
- Financial Stability Services Council
- Health and Wellness Services Council
